privacy policy.
Effective date: 5 July 2026 · Last updated: 6 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Logarythms("yappah", "we", "us"), the operator of the yappah web application and website (the "Service"), collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data. We are the "Data Fiduciary" and you are the "Data Principal" within the meaning of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023("DPDP Act"). This policy is written in plain language, as the DPDP Act requires. If you would like a copy of this notice in another language listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India, write to us at the contact below and we will provide one.
1. personal data we collect, and why
- Voice recordings (processed, never stored): when you record a practice take, the audio is sent to our servers over an encrypted connection solely to generate a transcript. The audio is processed in memory and permanently discarded immediately after transcription. We do not save, archive, or share your recordings, and no human listens to them.
- Transcripts and speaking analytics: the text transcript of your take, filler-word counts, pause data, speaking pace, and AI-generated scores and feedback. Purpose: to show you your feedback, progress, streaks, and trends.
- Practice preferences: your chosen niche, language preference, and target platform. Purpose: to select relevant speaking topics.
- Account information: your name, email address, and login credentials. Purpose: creating and securing your account and syncing your practice history across devices.
- Payment information: payments are processed by our payment partner Razorpay Software Private Limited. We receive confirmation of payment, the payment identifier, and your plan or challenge status - we never receive or store your card number, UPI PIN, or banking credentials. Purpose: providing the paid service you purchased, processing refunds you earn under our challenge programme, and meeting our legal record-keeping obligations.
- Support communications: emails or messages you send us. Purpose: resolving your issue.
- Technical data: basic device and usage information (browser type, pages visited, approximate region) collected through Google Analytics when enabled. Purpose: keeping the Service secure, fixing bugs, and understanding aggregate usage. We do not build advertising profiles and we do not sell personal data.
2. legal basis and consent
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which we ask for before or at the time of collection, and for certain "legitimate uses" recognised by the DPDP Act (for example, processing you voluntarily initiate by recording a take, or compliance with law). You may withdraw your consent at any time, with effect for future processing, by using the in-app controls or writing to the Grievance Officer below. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. If you withdraw, we will stop the related processing and delete the related data unless the law requires us to retain it.
3. your rights under the DPDP act
- Right to access: obtain a summary of the personal data we hold about you, our processing activities, and the identities of any parties it has been shared with.
- Right to correction and erasure: have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected, updated, or erased.
- Right of grievance redressal: raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer and receive a response within the timelines below.
- Right to nominate: nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
To exercise any of these rights, email the Grievance Officer (below) from the email address associated with your use of the Service, or use the in-app controls where available. We will verify your identity before acting on a request.
4. grievance redressal

5. children
The Service is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly process the personal data of children. Where a user is under 18, the DPDP Act requires verifiable parental or guardian consent, and we do not currently offer a mechanism for this - if we learn that a child's data has been collected without such consent, we will delete it.
6. how long we keep data
- Voice recordings: not retained at all - discarded immediately after transcription.
- Transcripts, scores, and practice history: retained while your account is active. Local demo data may also be stored in your own browser under your control. Deleted upon your erasure request or account deletion, except where law requires retention.
- Payment records: retained for the period required by Indian tax and financial regulations.
7. sharing and processors
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers ("Data Processors") needed to run yappah, under contracts that limit their use of your data to our instructions: speech-to-text providers (to transcribe your take), AI providers (to generate your feedback), our hosting provider, and Razorpay (for payments). We may disclose data where required by law or lawful government request.
8. security
We use reasonable security safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), scoped API credentials, and the structural safeguard of never storing audio at all. In the event of a personal data breach, we will notify affected Data Principals and the Data Protection Board of India as required by the DPDP Act and Rules.
9. cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to save your practice preferences and demo history on your own device. We use only essential cookies and optional Google Analytics for aggregate usage measurement; we do not use third-party advertising cookies.
10. changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email, with the effective date updated above. Continued use after the effective date means the updated policy applies.
